Your off-campus study café: a UTM student’s guide to Knight & Rose
Knight & Rose Café · Streetsville, Mississauga.

Make Streetsville part of your study routine

Sometimes the most useful change to a study day is a different table. If you study at the University of Toronto Mississauga and want an off-campus café where your laptop is welcome, make Knight & Rose your go-to Streetsville stop. Bring your reading, work through an assignment over coffee, or meet a classmate to untangle a difficult topic together.

Our upstairs café at 236 Queen Street South offers guest Wi-Fi, power outlets and no laptop or study-time restrictions. You do not need to pack away your notes because a short café timer has run out. Seating and individual outlet locations still depend on what is available when you arrive; a study-friendly policy is not a guarantee of a particular table.

What to bring for a comfortable study session

Bring your charger even if your laptop usually lasts through a lecture. Save the documents you need before travelling, and have headphones ready if you prefer your own background sound. Knight & Rose is a working café and lounge, so the room includes conversations, orders and music. You are welcome to study, but it is a different experience from a silent library floor.

Think about the type of work that suits that setting. Reading notes, drafting an outline, organising references or talking through a problem with one classmate can fit naturally around a café visit. If you need absolute silence for a timed practice exam, choose your setting accordingly. For a larger study group, contact us about seating before everyone sets off.

  • Laptop or tablet, charger and the files you need.
  • Headphones if you want to control your listening environment.
  • A clear task for the first part of your session.
  • A plan for travel home, especially if you stay into the evening.

Turn one big deadline into a manageable café session

Instead of arriving with “finish everything” as the plan, choose one useful outcome. It might be an essay outline with three arguments, a set of lecture questions to review, or a problem sheet you want to discuss with a friend. Start with that task before opening every tab and group chat. A café session feels more worthwhile when you can see what moved forward.

For group work, agree on what each person is bringing and leave a few minutes at the end to divide the next steps. Keep calls and shared audio considerate of the people around you. Our no-restrictions approach to laptop time gives you flexibility; it does not make the café a private meeting room or reserve adjoining tables automatically.

Coffee for you, chai or matcha for your study partner

Not everyone at a study table wants the same drink. Our menu includes espresso and signature coffee drinks alongside matcha, Kashmiri chai, karak chai and loose-leaf tea. The Rose Silk Latte is a place to start if you enjoy floral coffee; an Americano suits someone who wants a simpler espresso-based order. Use the current menu to compare choices and prices.

Desserts can turn a finished draft into a small occasion. Choose what you feel like rather than treating a particular drink as a study requirement. Tell staff about allergies and ask about ingredients or milk options before ordering. If your group wants savoury food, ask about the separate Blackstone Xpress partnership menu and its ordering terms.

Plan the trip from UTM and choose your time

UTM’s campus address is 3359 Mississauga Road; Knight & Rose is at 236 Queen Street South in Streetsville. We are an off-campus destination, so check your route from your actual starting point and allow for traffic or transit connections. Use the university’s official travel information and your preferred live trip planner rather than assuming a fixed journey time.

We open at noon, closing at midnight Monday–Thursday and 1 AM Friday–Sunday. That makes us an afternoon or evening study option rather than a before-your-early-lecture coffee stop. If you plan to stay late, check your return trip before settling in. The café is upstairs with one flight of stairs and no step-free access; call 437 918 9114 if you need to discuss arrival or seating.
